MISSION STATEMENt
Hermandad, the Association of Hispanic Seminarians, has as its purpose the promoting of awareness, appreciation, and preservation of Hispanic language and culture. It also serves as a primary support group for Hispanic seminarians studying at St. John’s. Membership and participation in the organization is open to all seminarians, regardless of ethnic identity, who are interested in furthering the purposes of the Association. Functioning under their own student leadership, members of Hermandad take responsibility throughout the year for various cultural and religious events associated with Hispanic culture, in particular, the celebrations surrounding the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Other activities include: Dia de los Muertos, Posadas, and Mexican Martyrs.

Prayer for My Community
Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters in the community. You know them personally. You know their names, their virtues and limitations, their strengths and weaknesses. You know every aspect of their journeys. You accept them as they are and vivify them with Your Spirit.
Lord, You love them not because of their virtues and goodness, but because they are Your sons and daughters. Teach me to truly love them through the example of Jesus, not in virtue of their words or works, but in virtue of themselves, discovering in each one, the mystery of Your infinite love, especially in those who are weak.
Thank You Father, for giving me these brothers and sisters. Each one of them is a gift to me, a true "sacrament", and an effective sign of the presence of Your Son. Grant me the grace to contemplate Jesus in them, and give me a heart to love them to the extreme. I want to be a true "sacrament" to them, full of the loving presence of Jesus. Amen.
